In the elegant fusion of timeless tradition and forward ambition, BDP+Partners led a transformative 360-degree rebranding for こまつ, Tokyo's longest-running fresh seafood e-commerce supplier, a stalwart of oceanic excellence for over two decades. Honoring its core name evoking "small pine", a symbol of resilient freshness, we reimagined こまつ as a premium global bridge, weaving water's symbolic link of purity through every asset: a modernized logo with clean geometric splashes, refined edges replacing dated glossy 3D effects, a sophisticated palette of deep navy, vibrant teal, and light cyan, elegant sans-serif typography for taglines, and custom hiragana for "ごま." This overhaul positioned こまつ as a luxury exporter, with key improvements like subtle depth, enhanced harmony, balanced visuals, and maintained heritage concepts, creating a minimalist aesthetic aligned with high-end Japanese brands.
The process unfolded in strategic phases: Discovery audited operations and market gaps to pivot from outdated visuals; Core Design built the identity system, including e-commerce UX, eco-luxury packaging, and social templates; Rollout activated via VIP tastings and multi-channel campaigns yielding 35% sales growth; Measurement iterated for sustained value.
